warm up:
today’s
snow and wind
is warmer so some rain
mixed in. it’s like
the dog’s paws are deep
beneath his breathing
out in out in chest
his ribs stick out
I noticed that yesterday
when I checked in
his breath was in the air
I could smell it still
when I walked near
and then away
it keeps close on my coat
collar
it whimpers some
when I get in
to warm up
